Working closely with metal stockists, the automotive industry and scrap merchants, Forbes Estates handles over 2,000 tonnes of aluminium cuttings scrap per month. This material is usually briquetted at one of our baling facilities, and presented palletised for ease of handling and melting.
Commercial (Mixed Low Copper)
Arising mainly from bar-ends, offcuts and forgings, commonly from metal stockists and other industrial sources, Forbes Estates handles over 300t per month of aluminium plate scrap. Segregated by alloy using spectrometry, x-ray and LIBS analysis, this is high-quality material for alloy production. Larger plates may be sheared, sawn or plasma cut to enable better transportation and recovery.
Extruded profiles are used extensively in the construction industry. Our scrap streams include post-consumer grades that are favoured for their green credentials, and supply chain returns with minimal contamination. We handle over 400t per month of profile scrap, and is often shredded or sheared to densify for transport and melting.
Arising from a number of different industrial processes and sources, Forbes Estates supply over 600t per month of secondary and casting alloy scrap. Often used to manufacture casting ingots or de-ox, this scrap is regularly loaded into containers for export.

Forbes Estate’s large network of metal stockists and factories supply us with high-quality segregated stainless and steel scrap. This growing division currently sees us trade around 100t per month. We are increasingly diversifying the metals that we trade and have leaned into cable, motors, titanium and nickel alloys.
